Never have I read with such diligence a story with such meaning, character and direction as: "Joseph: A Man of Absolute Integrity." From the first chapter to the conclusion, Joseph's story, as it is recounted and explained by Charles Swindoll, provides twentieth century explanation, definition and direction of historical records and writings for the reader. You will not want to put it down until your finished reading it!!!

"One of the two best on Joseph!"

Although my favorite Joseph book is 'With Joseph in the University of Adversity: the Mizraim Principles', by Dr. Parks, this one is a close second! If you want a pastor's heart in the telling of the story--this one is best! If you want sound principles for everyday life that you or a graduate can use, and really well-organized--go with Parks (if you can get your hands on a copy!). Swindoll does this as part of a series, and it's excellent! These are the best two Joseph books around.

Mr. Swindoll has done it again! Just like in his books, "David" and "Esther", he has taken the life of Joseph and made it so relevant to the trials and triumphs we face in 1999. Read the book better yet get the video and listen to it calms

This is a very good book . I got it on video and I really enjoyed it . I'm glad that I got it on video because I will listen to it again and then probably pass it on . A very good speaker for Billy Graham easy to listen to and very soothing strictly to the Bible reference using Bible verses so that you can check it you would like . I am 86 years old and let's not talk much about the Holy Spirit so it is one of the Trinity it just wasn't talked in my day and hasn't been talked much since then but I have a great granddaughter only eight years old who will be baptized
And she knows about the Holy Spirit very well and has testified . I am very proud of because she stood in front of the church congregation that said I have good news I believe in God I believe in Jesus and I believe in the Holy Spirit with all my heart . The Holy Spirit comes to me when I am sad he makes me warm and comfortable . Etc. etc. quite a testimony read the book

Valuable source of info on a wide range of topics

This book is a collection of essays that describe best practices in each of the major topics of enterprise systems integration. The key strength is that each essay is well written and provides some deep insights into the topics covered. A minor weakness is lack of a unifying structure if you are seeking a book that neatly ties everything together and adds a framework to the complex array of the parts and processes of enterprise systems integration. However, that is not a major shortcoming if you use this book as an encyclopedia or source book for best practices. Also, finding a key technology or technical approach is made easy because topics are grouped.
I could write a mini-book about all of the things I like and the many times this book has helped me in my job. I'll spare you that agony and just hit the high points from my perspective.
"Aligning strategies, processes and information technology" is a case study from which I gained a lot of good ideas and insights when I was engaged in a project to align IS services to business requirements. While the case study's organization and the organization for which I was doing this were vastly different, I found some great ideas that I was able to apply.
The entire section on integrated architectures and the following section on enabling technologies were a major influence on my approach to defining a strategic architecture for a client. Our team's first review deliverable required extensive modifications at the client's request, and these two sections gave us some valuable pointers that resulted in a cleaner approach that was standards-based as opposed to product- and technology-based.
I liked every article in the data warehouse section and particularly liked the interesting article titled "Distributed Integration: An Alternative to Data Warehousing". Although I do not fully buy into the approach, it certainly was intriguing and triggered some ideas that I am mentally filing away for that inevitable time when they will be useful.
Project and Systems Management had excellent, thought-provoking articles and provided tips and practices that I have incorporated into my own bag of tricks and techniques. One of the most valuable articles in this collection is "Symptoms of the Terminally Ill Systems Integration Project". Great reading and some clear examples of what to *not* do. If you are an anti-pattern fan and a project manager this one article is worth the price of the book. I also found the information and guidance given in "Contracting for Systems Integration" especially well thought out.
This book is a valuable resource to a system architect, consultant or integrator. I have gained (and am still gaining) a lot of insights, information and best practices from this book. It is one of the few books to which I refer all of the time.

SOlid desk reference that is up-to-date as of 6/18/02

The audience for this book are architecture and integration group members, making this book an ideal addition to group libraries. The focus is on ERP architecture, although the range of topics overlap into non-ERP domains, and is best used as a desk reference because it's a collection of short papers written by 70+ authors instead of a book that focuses on a specific approach or methodology. The papers comprising this desk reference are organized in logical groupings that are akin to layers in an enterprise architecture.
Each section is devoted to carefully chosen papers, some of which reflect individual authors' experience. The strength of this approach is that you benefit from a rich diversity of viewpoints and deep subject matter knowledge. The weakness is that some of the material is inconsistent with what precedes or follows in the book.
Since this is a technology-focused book the highlights are that the information is current and reflects issues, methods and technologies that are valid as of the date this review was written. The editors ensured that information that is not commonly used in ERP integration, such as web services, are not addressed. This doesn't imply that web services will not play a future key role (such as in PeopleSoft 8), but that most ERP implementations are integrated using middleware, XML and other methods. The more typical integration methods are covered in great detail, and the sections on database servers and data warehousing are especially informative.
I also like the section on Internet commerce, which covers topics ranging from web-based testing and capacity planning to XML-based B2B commerce - topics that are not commonly found in other ERP texts. The section on project and systems management also contained excellent information, such as the paper titled "Service Level Management Links IT to the Business", which touches upon a critical aspect of integration. Each of the four papers in the Component-Based Development section also included information that should be carefully considered by large enterprises, especially those that are using off-shore development of off-site contractors to develop modules. This section goes into each of the major critical issues, including economic considerations, domain engineering, server-side Java development and object library management.
Some of the information in this book is time sensitive in that it will be rendered obsolete as web services play a larger role in ERP systems (which is already happening in a sense), and XML and/or ebXML emerge as a core component of all of the major packages, such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Baan, etc. If you have a defined architecture or integration group this book will make a good investment because of the wide array of topics covered. If, however, you are seeking a book that provides a methodology or focused technology description this book may not be for you.

Pretty soon, you'll be the one giving the technology speech that others will be pretending to understand.

Prepare Your Heart To Be Touched

A friend recommended this book to me after she stayed up until 3:30 one morning reading it. Based on her past recommendations, I knew that the book would be good. What I didn't expect was how Deborah Hall's message would continue to resonate with me day in and day out. Deborah wasn't afraid of many things in her life, except missing the call of God. The book, through Ron Hall and Denver Moore's artfully written narratives, reveals the amazing story of how their three lives came together in a way that truly glorified God, even through some very difficult times. After reading this book, you will be thankful that Ron and Denver took the time to put their life stories, along with Deborah's, into a book that blesses all who read it and that hopefully inspires its readers to take off their racial, social, and economic blinders in order to see who people are at the heart level.

I bought this for a book club, and did not read anything about it in advance, which is rare for me. I just opened it and started reading. I was instantly hooked, but I assumed it was fiction. About 3/4 of the way through something made me wonder if this could be a true story, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was. I have since shared it with many people, and all have been inspired by this story of faith. I paid full price for this book and my review was not solicited.

Beautiful story about faith, forgiveness, love, tolerance, acceptance, happiness and friendship. Inspired me to always consider viewing situations and people from a different perspective, how I can give back to help others, and how each of us has a lesson (or lessons) to learn from everyone and every situation.This book is truly a treasure and has touched my heart on so many levels.

Nice book on how God can restore passion in our lives

I got this book as a Christmas present, and I read it in two days, vowing not to like it, but enjoying it, anyway. Ms. Rinehart tells us in a simple, but not simplistic, style, how God can restore passion in the lives of women, through daring to love, to desire through God, through forgiveness, through letting go of too much control. Indeed, I wondered if she had experience with 12-step groups; I recognized a lot of her wisdom in 12-step work I have been doing lately. Perhaps her sentence in the final paragraph says it best: "If God has you in the palm of his hand and your real life is secure in him, then you can venture forth -- into the places and relationships, the challenges, the very heart of the storm -- and you will be safe there" (p 182). If I have one complaint, it is that she seems to assume her readers are married women, particularly in her chapter on sexuality, in which she reserves only a paragraph or two on the sensuality of non-married women. But I still found it helpful, and it's a book I will continue to refer to even though I have finished reading it.

Excellent Music Theory Method Book for violin!

I use this in classrooms and as an at home teaching tool! All For Strings Method is not just for violin might I add! Cello, Bass, Violin and Viola. For Teachers I suggest the all in one Conductors Score do not purchase all the items separately, The Conductors Scores comes in 3 spiral-bound paper back books (which I LOVE!). Otherwise there is like 20 different books to purchase.... RECOMMENDED for students age 10 & up.

My daughter loves this series of "All for Strings" that her violin teacher uses. The books are very well explained, so even if you don't play the violin you can somewhat help out your child if they have a question.

A good book.

If you are a Christian, this is a good book to read, plain and simple. Most of the negative reviews are from non-Christians who, because they lack the faith, don't like the book. Mr Robertson speaks the COLD HARD TRUTH, and because of it, a lot of people don't like him. I enjoyed the book, although I am a Catholic.

I found this book to be a wonderful guidline for anyone to live by who follows Christ. For those who do not subscribe to the teachings of the Bible or Jesus Christ, you may be suprised or shocked by some of the answers. Pat Robertson gives very thoughtful and biblical answers to some of life's toughest questions. Pat is not self-rightous or condescending, merely truthful in what the Bible teaches us on how we must live to follow Jesus Christ. Pat tells it like it is, and if some do not like the answers contained in the book, they may need to examine their own faith in God and Jesus. This book could change your life.

About the Author
Barbara Johnson guided millions of hurting women through the tunnel of despair with her best-selling books including Plant a Geranium in Your Cranium, Living Somewhere Between Estrogen and Death, and Stick a Geranium in Your Hat and Be Happy. She and her husband, Bill, founded the non-profit Spatula Ministries which helps parents in crisis. She died of cancer in 2007 at the age of 79.

All the books i have read that Barbara Johnson have written are very inspiring and uplifting.She has books to get you out of
yourself, with God's word and laughter. I would recommend her books to anyone, who needs encouragement and a good
