A great beginning music book

This series is used in our local elementary school. My son plays the trumpet already, and since I had a flute from my childhood, he decided to give it a go as well. I bought this book, which has a great fingering chart. He had taught himself! It leads the learner through the proper steps of learning an instrument. I would recommend this book with high regard.

My nine year old is beginning flute lessons and this fits the bill. I think a more accomplished flutist would need something heavier.

Book ONE...

This is just book one of I believe three for flute players. This teaches basics very well. How to read the music, and time signaures and so forth. I say basics but it does get pretty advaced more towards the end of the book. Fairly good for people who just want to learn to play the flute without being in band.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would!!!

This book is great!! It is full of information about the book of Revelation in the Bible. Mr. Jeremiah breaks down each verse and explains it in a way everyone can understand. Even a non beliver can read this book and understand the book of Revelation when done reading it. He explains the symbols used by the apostle John. Reading this book renewed my desire to spread God's word to others so they don't have to go through the Tribulation Period. It reasures the christian of their home in Heaven and the Rapture. While reading the book I got excited about the Rapture and I am looking forward to it. This is an excellent book. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

For those wanting a more academic approach to Revelation, I recommend Ryrie's more academic REVELATION as accessible to the beginner, and still more detailed would be the commentaries of Walvoord, Robert Thomas, or even Newell. All of these, like Jeremiah, hold to the conservative, evangelical "pre-trib, pre-mil" endtimes view that the rapture will take place before ("pre") a 7-year tribulation before a literal millial (i.e., 1000 years) reign of Messiah on Earth.

As I reflect on the familiar words of Charles Dickens, I recall one of the best and worst times of my life. July 1, 1994, began a period that I can best describe as a long, cold winter--a stark, lonely season during which I found myself without all the things that gave me comfort, purpose, meaning, and identity. It helped a little that I entered this season willingly. It was a necessary transition from a very successful, almost twenty-three years in Fullerton, California, to an uncertain future in Dallas, Texas. I never doubted that I was where the Lord would have me and I knew it would be difficult, but I never imagined just how much it would challenge my character and stretch my faith. I felt more than lonely. I felt alone.

I was living in a small apartment over a friend's garage while pouring myself into my new duties as president of Dallas Theological Seminary, the institution that had launched me into ministry thirty-one years earlier. The world of academic theology, while strange to me, was stimulating. Those with whom I worked could not have been more gracious and kind . . . but nothing was familiar. It would be another two years before we could move the headquarters of Insight for Living from California to Texas, so Cynthia had to divide her time between Anaheim and Dallas. That left me with a lot of solitude, something I typically enjoy. But this was far more than I had anticipated or wanted. I was separated from all of my children and grandchildren for the first time since they were born. The deep friendships I had cultivated for twenty-three years were fifteen hundred miles away. The home we had lived in and enjoyed belonged to someone else, and the ministry that had given me such joy and fulfillment was now only a memory. Moreover, I was a shepherd without sheep. That loss kept me on my face before God.

Great book, Rather it be a real book though

Love the book. I mean it's Charles Swindoll, how can it not be good? However, I'd love it more in real book format. There are places to insert thoughts and answer questions, would much rather write my answers than type them. I must admit I'm a real book junkie, love the smell of real pages.

This is a great book for daily devotional. Provides a page or two of reading then gives Bible reference and closing thought. The book is organized according to the calendar year. So, the first of the book talks about starting out the new year and progresses from there. Classic Swindoll.

Kidnapped American Protestant missionaries in the Philippines with the New Tribes Mission, Martin and Gracia Burnham, were held captive for 372 days. During the eventual rescue attempt by the Philippine Army on June 7, 2002, Martin was killed. During a television interview about their captivity, I remember Gracia saying of her husband during the rescue, "He finished well." That comment so touched my heart and I have meditated on it a lot...as I, too, want to finish well and honor my God and my King, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Finishing Touch by Charles Swindoll is a book I go back to again and again to relearn and pass on those lessons and nuggets that will help me to 'finish well.' I am giving this book to my older grandchildren. My prayer is that we Christians will finish well. God bless you in your reading of this wonderful book. And, "Thank You, God, for Your love of all Your children and for the ministry of Pastor Swindoll."
