Used this book with a bible study on relentless love. Highly recommended making you think about what type of rocks you carry into relationships. Loved the pictures and thought provoking presentation. Will use it as gifts again.

Not Much Here

I brought this book to the gym with me this evening. I read it in 13 minutes. I know this because the spin bike I was on keeps track of the time. This book is 48 pages long. 29 pages only have pictures of rocks on them. Only 19 pages have text on them. It's double-spaced with really big margins. I think this writing would have been better suited for a blog or magazine. I've read longer blog posts and magazine articles.

Johnson makes an interesting point or two, but you can only cover so much in 13 minutes of reading. Some of the bigger issues of judgment are covered. We shouldn't judge homosexuals or murders or adulterers. However, I think my judgment is much more subtle in the ways it affects the people closest to me. I'm still looking for some practical advice on how I can avoid that judgment and love those people better.

Fundamentals of Christianity

The title of this book is exactly what it talks about on showing you how to live like Jesus. It is not very long but brings out positions that Jesus faced, that we face today and gives the best way to handle the situation ( like Jesus did). This whole book would be very helpful to a new believer in Christ to show how they should act towards others. It is also helpful for strong believers. A lot of the chapter will probably be review, but it will not just tell how you need to live but inspire you to do it. There are also other chapters that you probably never really considered (and if you have- most of you probably never gave an attempt at) that are most vital to living as Christ and to your witnessing. The two most rememberable chapters are the one about a leopard cursed man and the importance of our touch and the other was about forgiving. It talks about how Jesus was able to put up with the many-times straying and betraying disciples, which was by forgiving. And that is what we must do in order to live like Jesus. No matter the circumstance, no matter the circumstance, no matter the circumstance, we must forgive and hold no grudge. I recommended it to every person, whether beginning their faith or strong in it.

"Healing Stones" is such an intelligent, profound, honest book that it leaves me rather speechless. The main character Demi, a professor at a Christian college, falls into adultery and the ramifications are severe. This book is AMAZING! It is 385 pages and I read it in 2 days!

I found the Lord 2 years ago, and several years before that, I had an affair. I ended it after a few months and my husband never found out. I am so grateful to have found God's forgiveness and over time, I learned to forgive myself as well.

Too much personal story, not enough proof

I was hoping there would be documented cases within this book but there are not. All Keonig talks about is "many cases", "various cases" and "multiple studies" which makes his assertions somewhat dubious.
I was hoping for some; "In 1994, at Harvard Medical school, 345 patients...." type stuff. I didn't find it.
If you want a light/feel good read this is it.
If you want facts and figures look elsewhere.

I just finished reading "The Healing Connection" by Dr. Koenig. Being a non-scientist and a Christian, I was pleased to find the writing clear, honest, mostly non-technical, and a real page-turner. Dr. Koenig tells his life story and fuses sound scientific research data with common sense and heartfelt Christian convictions. An especially good section is the last 40 pages, where we see exactly what the decades of research means and what it holds for the future of healthcare in the U.S.
I recommend the book to people who have not made the "connection" between health and religious faith, or who have read in this area and want a more personal point of view.

Foundations builds good music foundations

For band directors, private instrumental teachers and students, Foundations For Superior Performace: Warmup Techniques is a must have. I have used the warm ups, chorales, and scale studies with my advanced students and with my beginners as well. This book came to my attention when I visited the middle school band director of one of my clarinet students. It was obvious that the students in this band program were a step ahead of the rest. The warm-ups have a lot to do with this.

Intonation, breathing and articulation are immediately addressed by using these exercises. I even purchased a trombone copy for my son and a flute copy for my daughter so we could play together at home. 5 stars for sure!

Great book for learning how to play.

My daughter needed this for 6th grand band this year. I looked through it when it got here and it seemed like a great book (I played the clarinet too) for those learning how to play. I don't know where the band is, but she is almost done with this one herself. She always plays ahead of where they are supposed to be. I'm sure I will need the next book soon.

I really can't rate the content of this book because I played piano and am not the person using it. The copy we ordered arrived in good order, in a timely manner, and is exactly what my son's band instructor wanted him to have. It seems to be a classic for instruction, and it wouldn't be so popular if it weren't effective.

The use of "professional" in the title is misleading because, for example, credentials for auctioneers and cooks are included while those for attorneys and social workers are not. Arranged by subject, entries identify sponsors; describe program requirements, including fees and exams; and indicate whether recertification is needed. Unfortunately, insufficient care was taken in proofing this book, which contains many typographical errors, and although there are two appendixes-one listing programs by title or abbreviation and the other listing sponsors alphabetically-a good index is lacking. Not recommended in its present form.

In times when mobility makes it difficult for employers to observe a person's development or expertise, certification by an impartial, third party using objective measures can be useful. Technological change requires continued growth and development in many occupations; different levels of certification allow equitable rankings within a field and provide incentive for further progress.

This guide is arranged first by industry (such as Hospitality and Travel) and then by job title (catering executive, culinary educator, hotel supplier, etc.). Each entry includes the sponsoring organization, program data (number of members, number certified, approximate cost of certification), program description (experience, courses, points system, etc.), examinations required, and recertification information. The first appendix indexes certifications by designations (i.e., the letters that certified people can put after their names). The second appendix is arranged by sponsoring organization.

Broad fields include Business and Management, Insurance and Personal Finance, Real Estate and Property, Engineering and Science, Trade and Technical, and Medical and Fitness. The latter encompasses aerobics instructor, laboratory equipment specialist, and nursing home administrator--but no information is provided in the fields of mental health or alternative medical practice, and physician certification boards are not included. This is not an oversight. Some certification programs did not respond to the questionnaire, while other areas were either "too specialized" or "lacked agreement within the community."

Most certification programs exist where there is no governmental regulation. They are guilds with a new twist, quality control rather than numbers control. Individuals seeking portable credentials that will be recognized wherever they go and employers searching for relatively objective criteria for developing job descriptions and for evaluating potential hires should find this directory useful.

An incomplete listings of certifications in many industries.

I like the guide in that it provides information about qualifications and requiresment, but it lack the other important information. Where can I recieve the training? How I can recieve financial aid? How much will that training cost? I have found a guide that came very close to my needs from FutuReady it is called "Wanted Certified". It only concentrates on the Computer Industry but it is a real good guide.
